Petra Cetkovska missed first four months of 2013, pulling out from nine WTA tournaments in order to heal her left foot as she suffered a stress fracture of it. She made her comeback only at Strasbourg tournament losing to Larsson in three sets, but quickly started getting her first victories of the year.
Even though she played only one match before Roland Garros, she made a great performance in Paris reaching third round and winning against Puchkova letting her only two games, but also making a great surprise and winning over top 20 player Pavlychenkova in three hard fought sets. However, Italian Roberta Vinci was too much for her, while she also gave a great match taking a set. Birmingham tournament didn’t go well for Petra, exiting in the first round to Mathilda Johansson. Finally, she had to play qualifications for Wimbledon, winning over Rogowska, Hercog and Min, not losing a set during the qualifying process.

Donna Vekic, on the other hand, just reached her career high record being currently at 64th position in the World. At the same time she is the youngest players in top 100 and surely represents one of the upcoming stars of this sport.
Young Croatian didn’t play much WTA tournaments at hard courts at the beginning of the season, but still managed to reach the second round of Australian Open and second round of Miami. Switching back to hard court ITF tournament in Istanbul brought her much needed self confidence back, as she won the tournament more than easily. She didn’t do well clay court season, but that doesn’t matter much for her as faster surfaces are her favorites. At her first professional grass court tournament she managed to make a great surprise coming all the way till the finals. On her way to the finals, she won over Giorgi, Urszula Radwanska, Sanchez, Cirstea and Rybarikova, finally she lost to much more experienced Daniela Hantuchova in finals, 6-7 4-6.
Although Cetkovska isn’t bad player at all and she herself had good results at Wimbledon, in-form Vekic should be too much for her at the moment. Croatian is great server and therefore, shouldn’t give her too many break point opportunities during the game. If she repeats performances from last week, she won’t have much problems against Petra.
